2009 NCMA-ESI Global Contracting Award

Once again, in 2009, NCMA, in cooperation with the contracting community, will award the 2009 NCMA–ESI Global Contracting Award to a commercial or government contracts professional who has contributed significantly to acquisition operations or acquisition policy. The winner will receive a cash prize of $5,000.

Noteworthy contributions to acquisition operations could include:

  • Extraordinary business leadership or team participation in the design, development or execution of an acquisition program, project or contract that furthers an agency mission or company’s business
  • Any single task that merits special recognition because of its contribution to meeting an acquisition’s cost, schedule and performance goals

Noteworthy contributions to acquisition policy could include:

  • The development of a management policy, regulation, data system or other task that significantly enhances the economy, efficiency and effectiveness of an agency or company’s acquisition system

Eligibility

To be eligible for the NCMA-ESI International Contracting Award, candidates must:

  • Have made a noteworthy contribution to acquisition operations or policy within 18 months of the due date for nominations.
  • Have at least four years of contracting experience.
  • Be 21 years of age or older.
  • Not be an employee or family member of an employee of NCMA or ESI International or any Informa company.
  • By accepting the award, authorize NCMA to use your name, address (city and state) and/or photograph, any taped appearance or interview with you or any likeness of you, your voice, and/or any statements made or attributed to you, in perpetuity, in connection with this award in any media now known of hereafter developed (including NCMA's authorizing ESI's use in publicizing future awards), and to use statements by you or attributed to you relating the award and/or NCMA, without further compensation.

Award restrictions

  • The award does not cover travel and living expenses to attend the presentation conference.
  • The award recipient will be responsible for paying any and all applicable federal, state, local and international taxes associated with receiving the award.

Nomination Process

Nominations for the 2009 NCMA-ESI Global Contracting Award are due by January 15, 2009. Each nomination must be approved by the head of the contracting activity for government nominations or an appropriate vice president for industry nominations, describe the candidate’s accomplishments in detail (but not to exceed three pages) and include a summary of the accomplishment not to exceed 150 words.

All nominations must be submitted electronically. They must include a pdf formatted approval page, signed by an individual meeting the above mentioned criteria, on the organization’s letterhead to:
