Learning Model
At ESI International, we understand that learning is not just a single event. It’s a continuous process that occurs over time.
Our new Learning Model reflects ESI’s focus on learning as a process. This four-step sequence of activities supports the individual learner and enhances his or her on-the-job performance, which delivers a greater return on the organization’s training investment.
Each step consists of a series of activities that strengthen the student’s understanding of the content and increase the likelihood that the new skills will be applied after the training is complete. And for selected Project Management courses, students and training administrators can benefit from MyESI, our new Web-based training management tool.

The "Assess" Phase
During the "Assess" phase, students complete an online Best Practices Survey designed to provide a baseline for their current use of project management best practices. They also complete a precourse assessment that measures how much they know about the course subject matter. These tools allow the student to pinpoint the learning areas that need the most attention and help them to measure their progress after the course has been completed.
The "Learn" Phase
The "Learn" phase includes preparing for and taking the actual course. Students have the opportunity to access Focus Questions in advance that help them explore their previous experience with some aspect of course content and think about how it is currently implemented within their organizations. Then, they begin and complete their training (either in the classroom or online) with experienced, world-class instructors, robust content, and challenging case studies and exercises.
The "Reinforce" Phase
A performance improvement program, no matter how well it’s executed, is only effective if students retain the information. During this phase, students have access to valuable postcourse tools, resources, and action/development plans to help them reinforce what they’ve learned, maximize retention and enhance the practice and application of their new skills on the job.
The "Validate" Phase
About 45 days after the completion of training, students can re-take the Best Practices Survey as well as a postcourse assessment. Results can be compared to the baseline created before the training solution was implemented to measure improvements. Any areas of weakness can be pinpointed, and students will have access to additional online content targeted to fill their specific knowledge gaps.
MyESI
MyESI is our ESI’s new Web-based training management tool
that helps students and training administrators control
their Learning Model experience. Through their MyESI accounts,
students can receive a variety of materials from ESI, including
pre- and postclass surveys, precourse focus questions and final
exam grades. It also lets students access training records, view
their progress in completing their training program, search for
additional courses, register for courses and more.

MyESI is also vital from the administrator’s perspective as an efficient,
effective way to oversee and manage an organization’s training program.
Training managers will receive aggregated reports about how employees are
doing in their courses. They’ll also be able to "bulk load" students into
specific courses, approve or reject student registrations, and much more.
