ESI International to Offer Business Analyst Training Program, Key to Developing Requirements and Preventing Scope Creep
(ARLINGTON, VA - March 7, 2002) -- ESI International, the leading provider of project management and contract management training services, this month launched a Business Analyst Training Program to complement its Project Management Professional Development Program. CDI Corporate Education Services (CDI), ESI's affiliate in Canada, developed the eight-course curriculum two years ago to give professionals the tools and techniques they need to build a better foundation for projects from the very beginning.
This new program, the first dedicated solely to business analysis, focuses on the analysis and documentation of project requirements. Business analysts, although not always known by this title, have a distinct role -- to uncover business, user and functional requirements, and ESI's Business Analyst Training Program addresses these unique needs. This new program provides training of a proven, structured approach to better define a project's requirements and control scope to meet stakeholders' needs and manage these requirements throughout the life cycle of the project.
"Business analysis is an important first step in any project plan. Every project manager, systems analyst or IT director, whether developing software solutions or working on mergers, should have a clear grasp of this important, initial phase of a project," explains Larry Seeley, ESI President. "With this new curriculum, ESI now offers managers the knowledge, techniques and best practices they need to successfully develop and document a requirements plan that will ensure the success of their projects, regardless of industry or project type."
The Business Analyst Training Program was designed to help business analysts, or managers performing the functions of a business analyst, define the requirements and scope of a project to meet customer needs, document all requirements clearly and ensure requirements are met throughout the systems development life cycle. These invaluable skills will help to shorten life cycles thereby lowering project budgets and decreasing time-to-market.
"While our project management curriculum covers some aspects of business analysis, we feel that this part of project management is so critical that it warranted a full course curriculum," says Seeley. "Managers who would benefit from this new training program include systems analysts, IT managers as well as project managers and anyone who plays a role in ensuring project end results."
"This program has been very successful in Canada since its launch two years ago. It builds on the importance of developing competencies and skills that are tied to specific job roles," says CDI CES President, Bill Rasberry. "We deliver ESI's project management curriculum in Canada, and it has been very well received. We feel confident companies in the United States will find this training equally valuable."
The business analyst curriculum is a perfect complement to ESI's project management training program and continues the award-winning collaboration between ESI and CDI. In 2001, the Canadian-American Business Council (CABC) recognized ESI and CDI with the prestigious Canadian-American Business Achievement Award. The companies jointly received this award for their partnership that delivers project management training to the Canadian marketplace.
