VDOT Awards Long-Term Project Management Training Contract to ESI International
(ARLINGTON, VA - February 24, 2004) -- ESI International, the leading provider of project management, contract management and business analysis training, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a multi-year project management training contract from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). The two-year contract was awarded with the chance for two successive two-year renewals.
"We are very pleased and honored that VDOT has once again chosen ESI as its project management training provider," says Larry Seeley, ESI President. "Since we have trained personnel at VDOT for the past two years, we have gained an in-depth understanding of VDOT culture and the specific training needs of its employees. This understanding uniquely qualifies ESI to help VDOT achieve the objectives of its Project Management Professional Development Program and to assist VDOT's effective implementation of its Six-Year Improvement Plan."
The custom curriculum, developed jointly by VDOT and ESI, identifies a three-level approach for developing project management skills. A strong, organization-wide project management methodology will help ensure that projects meet VDOT's key objectives, including using realistic revenue projections and cost estimates, funding highway maintenance needs adequately and bringing projects to an acceptable level of completion.
More than 400 VDOT personnel have taken ESI courses and 43 have earned an Associate's Certificate in Project Management awarded jointly by VDOT, ESI and ESI's academic partner, The George Washington University. Achieving this certification is an objective of the Project Management Professional Development Program and will assist VDOT's effective implementation of its long-range plan. This plan includes the Six Year Improvement Program, which offers a vision for funding transportation projects. The program includes 1,622 projects and allocates a total of $7.3 billion over the next six fiscal years.
