ESI International Develops Specialized Training Series for Experienced Project Managers

(ARLINGTON, VA - May 19, 2000) -- ESI International, the leading provider of project management and contract management training services, has rolled out a new series of training courses designed specifically for experienced project managers who need additional training to meet the demands of today’s complex and rapidly changing business environment.

Underscoring ESI’s commitment to improving individual and organizational performance, the five new courses address a variety of needs that are common to nearly every project management operation. They include such critical topics as assessing and recovering troubled projects; managing requirements; leveraging risk management; managing e-business projects; and establishing a project management office.

"Our experience working with Fortune 500 companies and federal agencies through our Project Management Professional Development Program has given ESI a unique snapshot of how project management is applied across any number of industries and applications," says Larry Seeley, ESI President. "Yet, our clients and our students have challenged us to help them do more--to advance their project management skills beyond what is currently offered in the marketplace. We have risen to that challenge with these new courses. We’re confident that companies and governmental agencies of any size will find these courses full of the kind of practical and relevant information that ESI is known for. "

Two courses, in particular, are sure to be popular with today’s business climate. Given the explosive growth of e-commerce, e-business and dot.com enterprises, ESI’s new course, Managing e-Business Projects, addresses projects that may be unlike any others. They may have shorter development cycles, fuzzier requirements, technology platforms that change almost daily and complex security issues. "Project managers are learning that project management principles must be applied to these e-business ventures, simply to keep up with competition," explains Seeley. "Business today is being driven largely by this e-business ‘train,’ and ESI’s course ensures that our students will be up front driving this train, not riding in the caboose."

Studies have shown that in the United States alone, more than 30 percent of all projects were cancelled outright and more than half were considered to be "troubled." As a result of these alarming statistics, ESI developed the course, Rapid Assessment and Recovery of Troubled Projects, specifically for those managers who may find themselves staring in the face of such a project. "When you’re in this kind of position, you have to go to work immediately," says Seeley. "ESI makes sure project managers have the tools to take corrective action right away with speed, accuracy, power and balance."

ESI’s courses are offered across the United States in 22 cities. For more information as well as dates and locations of courses for experienced project managers or any ESI project management course, call (888) ESI-8884 or visit our Find a Course area.
